Photo frames

At Archivista we display a remarkable range of over 500 photo frames, and you will be sure to find the ideal frame to suit your special photograph. We source our selection of contemporary and classical styles from both local craftsmen and overseas suppliers. From delicate filigree, stylish pewter, exquisite hand-made copper, beautiful New Zealand kauri and rimu frames, to gold and silver leaf designs, sterling silver, paua and many more. Frames are a wonderful present to give or receive and a framed photo adds a very personal quality to your gift. Visit our store in Mount Eden (bring your photos with you if appropriate) and our staff will guide and advise you on your selection.

Custom framing

Custom framing is a specialized option when standard frames are not suitable. Photos, artwork, needlework, christening gowns, postcards, children's art, T-shirts, daggers, medals and memorabilia, - they all come in different shapes and sizes, and custom framing is the ideal solution. The choice of moulding (the frame edge itself), specialized matt or mounting options, the choice of glass - are some of the components that comprise a custom-made frame. Archivista can advise and guide you through the choices to achieve a unique and perfect solution.

Archivista calls upon an extensive range of resources in order to advise on the care, preservation and presentation of these significant treasures. Your military medals are carefully cleaned, and fragile or soiled ribbons can be replaced. Where necessary, we can source replacement medals - originals or replicas. We create a moving tribute by combining the medals in a stunning frame, together with a photograph and personal details of the person awarded the medals. This is a service unique to Archivista. The process is often initiated by family members rather than the recipient themselves and the range of emotions expressed upon seeing the finished result is very rewarding for all involved.

If you are unable to visit our store, you can send your medals for framing to us by registered courier.

• Custom-made wedding albums. An exclusive arrangement with the world's finest custom made album producer enables us to offer you the ultimate in photographic albums. Exquisitely display your photos from that most special of days – your wedding day.

• Cleaning and preservation of artworks, documents, and fabrics. Archivista offers the services of several internationally experienced restoration and preservation experts to advise on the options available in this specialist field.

• In-home consultation service. To evaluate and advise on the preservation of your framed photos and artworks. Deterioration to your framed images occurs, often unnoticed. We can advise on the 'health' of your photos & artworks.

• Film Developing. Develop films and scan to jpeg and the option of a high quality 6”x4” or 7”x5” print of each.

• Printing on high quality photographic and fine art papers. High quality papers including those from Hahnemühle and Epson papers. We include papers conforming to ISO 9706 - museum quality for highest age resistance

If the photo is one that you do not want to part with we can duplicate it for you, if it has been damaged we may be able to restore it to its original glory.
